We had the most exciting week with Sue as she started us all on our Circles of Fun quilt.
This was the quilt most students worked on and we had a great time auditioning our fabrics
on many different backgrounds - each giving the quilt a different feel. Red spots make funky
and antique florals make old world. The floor of the stock exchange had nothing on the quick
trade of fabrics between class members.
As a group it is amazing how we have all grown in respect to fabric choices - we aren't tied
up, part of our creative soul has been set free. What a wonderful feeling it is to be not tied to
all the "quilt police" rules - I dare them to come and explore the world of Sue Ross. Sue joins us
bi-monthly conducting classes Thursday to Sunday. Spaces are precious. If you would like
to join Sue she has many wonderful original designs incorporating hand piecing and applique
to choose from. Come and join Sue and put a twist into tradition. First in gets a pink chair.
Chris brought her gorgeous version of Sue's Whirlygigs to class on the weekend for us to see
before it goes to the quilter. As a shop owner it is wonderful to watch each step of the creative
process and the interaction that Sue inspires in all the students - helping each other choose
fabric combinations to make each quilt unique, and every student inspired and empowered
with creativity. I watch with delight as students go from nervous preschoolers to embracing
prints, colours and combinations that in the past would have been outside their comfort zone.
Till next time.............Team Precious
