Dressing Gowns has just arrived in store – finally. Unfortunately for us we missed out on the first shipment because it was oversold. Those words must be wonderful for any artist to hear, but for a shop owner they instill disappointment and sadness – but they do say patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait. Sadly the wait was a month or two longer than first anticipated and I would like to thank my loyal and patient customers who have been anxiously awaiting its arrival.
I have been working on the website (turtle pace) updating it with the wonderful array of quilt kits and fabric bundles that we have on offer in the store. If you haven’t visited it in the past few weeks, I invite you to pop on over for a visit to see what gorgeous new kits, books and fabrics have been added. There is more work to be done (remember turtle pace) but I do hope that you enjoy what we create.
Cathie is the mum of five (yes 5) boys and like us is a dedicated quilter. When she is able to escape the farm, work and her motherly duties (which we know are extensive) she loves to visit for a fix or join in on a class. Recently she made the hour drive to join us in making Crown Jewels – when she returned home she started stitching like a mad woman because she now has her blocks ready to sew together. I am still stitching my jewel shapes in but am a little worried about the progress of my blocks now that I have rabbits running round my head…..naughty little things.
On the subject of bunnies this delicious quilt belongs to Trish. She started this beautiful quilt with Marg on a previous visit to the store. Her stitching is exquisite and last night we pinned it to the design wall to audition borders - they are perfect.
I love going to classes for a number of reasons – the opportunity to spend time with incredible designers whose passion inspires us to keep growing and experimenting, the sharing of knowledge and techniques which enable me to continue to grow as a quilter and last but not least sharing time with likeminded sewing sisters who understand and give into the lust of fabrics and love of quilting.
This love and desire of quilting drives us to place our names on class lists with the full intention of participating, but unfortunately life gets in the way and for whatever reason we are unable to attend. In the past I have been a little naughty in regards to my class policy regarding deposits and final payments. I do remember what it was like to be on the other side of the counter – wishing like crazy to attend a class but not having the funds at that moment in time to book my place. It has now come time to put these class policies into place – so if you are taking a class with us please take the time to read our new class policy on the classes’ blog at the top of this page.
With this said and done it is time to start looking forward to a wonderful array of classes in 2014 with new and favourite tutors.
Happy stitching until next time…….lisa
