We have been so blessed in the past week to have so many gorgeous quilts - some complete and others still under progress, visit the shop.
The first quilt that started the flow of creativity was a quilt designed by Blackbird Designs from their book Garden Club. Stitched together by Majella's aunty Elaine from fabric she purchased from us on her last visit. It is stunning especially as she was a little nervous about the dark chocolate background, but after sharing it with us last week she is extremely thrilled with her finished top.
She has returned to her home in Bathurst and we are all looking forward to seeing how Majella will quilt it - I promise to share it once complete.
So in between all the show and tell we have been busily cutting fabrics to make "to die for" kits for Judy Newman's Dilly Bag
There is a fabulous selection for those who love modern prints ....but the lovers of reproductions have not been forgotten.....
and once they were packed and folded they look like this........delicious......
complete with a covered hexie to get you started. I am sure that once you make your first dilly bag it won't be your last, Judy says that they are definately addictive. How many will you make?
Katrina popped in sharing her latest news along with her current work in progress - Marg Sampsons Fly Away with Me. Marg taught this delightful quilt a few years ago so it was lovely to see Katrina progressing with her quilt
Also dropping in for a visit was Val Benson who brought in her Di Ford mystery block of the month
There are several girls who visit the store that are making Di's block of the month so it is really exciting seeing them come in each month with the next border stitched. It is very quickly becoming a quilt that is making it's way up on my list of "want to make"
Ros has been working relentlessly on her Rare Birds by Bridget Giblin for the upcoming arrival of her first grandchild. She is so excited and of course it is infectious as we all look forward to sharing in her life as a grandmother.
All her hard work is now finished with the last of the applique stitched down last night at Precious Threads. It was lovingly handed to Majella for the final stage - quilting. So the clock is ticking with bub due in the next month.....Miss M will be busy.
If you follow Precious Time on Instagram you will know that the challenge has been laid down to see who finishes their block first from Wendy Whellum's class.....of course there is no doubt that I will win the challenge (not!). Linda however is right on track to take the checkered flag with her block progressing beautifully
Patrina has been stitching kilometers of fabrics together for her version of a Sarah Fielke quilt. Of course with Patrina she loves her quilts super sized - I could hardly fit it in the frame of the camera. Patrina has a love of scrap quilts and she has plans to put this on the bed as her summer quilt
And here is a close up......
There are more beautiful quilts and blocks to share with you in another post but just in case you were worried that I have been sitting back enjoying myself here is what I have been working on....
I have picked up my blocks for Stonefields again and I have to say that my heart feels happy and light with every stitch I take and it only reinforces the love I have for quiltmaking and the important place it has in my heart and home.
I hope that you find time in your week to stitch and create......until next time....lisa
