Blackbird Designs "Autumn Lily" has arrived in store - this lovely soft range is Blackbird at their best. Lovely soft florals, great background prints, sweet checks and spotty stripes are just some of the prints that make up this very pretty range
During Marg's class she offered a quilt renovation consultation - which was a really interesting part of the workshop. All of us were welcome to bring along unfinished quilts or blocks and have Marg help us in working out a plan to finish them and not in the way they were intended when we first started them.
Lisa left her completed centre of Crown Jewels - a quilt designed by Chris Jurd and published in Homespun - asking Marg for her assistance in finding borders. Marg has an open and quirky take on fabric so it is always interesting for us all to see what she finds for us.
Lisa was thrilled wth Marg's suggestion of a Kaffe classic Aboriginal dot for her inner border and a piece from Amy Butler's range Happi for her outer border. Lisa's quilt is a great example of using reproduction and modern prints to make a quilt reflective of her time.
We have two great new patterns in store - the first is Marg's "Fly Away With Me" and Gina's "Aunt's Quilt"
We have had the great pleasure of seeing Marg's Fly Away with Me quilt in a previous class at the store and some of us (me included - I know I need to be committed - and I don't mean stickability) have started this wonderful quilt.
We fell in love with Gina's quilt on our visit to Melbourne for the AQC earlier in the year on a visit to Amitie.
A few close ups of Gina's quilt..........
It goes without saying that this is another quilt that will be going on the "to make list" - it may just have to wait until 2015 - and isn't there something wrong with saying that - I don't know where this year has gone. But if you just can't wait until then pop in, grab a pattern and we will happily help you choose a selection of fabrics to get you started.
Leanne has been steadily working on her crazy trip around the world and last week we popped her blocks up on the wall so she could get the total effect and to say she was so happy was an understatement, especially as this is her first quilt. Leanne's quilt really is a trip around the world of friends and family, from whom she collected this wonderful collection of scraps.
So this is the week that was in the store and I look forward to sharing what happens this week.
