Marg's classes always leave you inspired and in an attempt to keep my stickability at an all time high I have been working on my Antique Stars and Baskets Quilt.....I do have to admit that it is only 1 in about 5 of Marg's quilts that I have fallen in love with and have started. I know - I can hear the sighs from here - but as you know I have never had a fear of starting a new quilt - that rush of choosing fabrics leaves me glassy-eyed and high on creativity.
I have appliqued the baskets, bases and handles down on two sides of my quilt and am nearly finished the other two sides, before I start the mammoth task of choosing and stitching all the flowers and stems. So what to do - start the hexies and stars for the centre of course! They have to be chosen and stitched as well and I figure that the best way forward is to work on what I can cope with on the day. After a busy day choosing 100 fabrics for flowers and stems seems impossible but choosing 10 fabrics for stars and hexagons is do-able. Little steps towards the finish is better than no steps at all.
This week I also spent time with an old friend - Stonefields and was super happy to complete another 8 blocks. It did help that they had been prepared earlier - and with only 45 blocks to go for my centre I am closer than I was the week before
There was a little work completed during the week with fat eight bundles of Kaffe cut and folded - they make great gifts or stocking fillers for Christmas
New books were unpacked.....
A Raskog was assembled and filled.......
Lorna brought in her gorgeous Clamshell quilt (Susan Smith technique).......there were many oohs and ahhs!
and a close up......
We are always on the look out for new and exciting Australian quilters and designers and Judy Newman is definitely on the "hot" list. Currently being featured in the current Quilt Mania we are looking forward to welcoming Judy to Precious Time in February 2015.
This snapshot of Judy's new quilt was re-posted from her Instagram account - if you would like to see more of Judy Newman follow her on Instagram.
We have kited up Judy's very popular Dilly Bag and so this week I decided to make up a fresh sample of our kits in French General
