We have been switching things up at the store today as we prepare for our annual birthday sale which starts after the Australia Day public holiday. I know that those of you who have attended our sale in the past have most likely already noted it on your calendar - our sale will run from Tuesday 27 to Sunday 1 February. Fabrics will start from $5.00 pm - minimum cut of 1m. There will also be books and patterns on sale as well........definately not to be missed.
Of course the main reason for a sale is to make way for all the new, delicious fabrics that will soon start arriving. One of these is the Palampore Panel by Mary Koval. The name Palampore means bedspread or coverlet and these extraordinarily large cotton panels with their life-sized flowering trees were coveted for their beaty and a status symbol. The Tree of Life motif is used as a symbol to celebrate birth, marriage and special occassions. This reproduction by Mary Koval is an excellent example of typical Palampore Panel hand painted in England circa 1775. We have a limited number of these panels ordered so if you would like to be the proud owner of one please contact the shop with your details.
Each panel measures 50" x 90" and comes indivually packaged as shown below.......
This Star War quilts belongs to a young man going off to boarding school in a week and the pressure is on to have it sewn, quilted and bound so that he can take a little bit of home to boarding school.
Leona brought in her gorgeous Antique Baby Crib Quilt today to choose a binding and it was so lovely to see it quilted.
Leona has made a beautiful version of this quilt designed by Marg Sampson George. For those of you who love Marg's quilts we will be selling raffle tickets in a quilt designed and stitched by Marg and her friends Jean and Liz, in aid of Beyond Blue. Tickets will be here in the next few days and will cost $2.50 - so if you would like to purchase one please pop into the store. I have no doubt they will be sell like hot cakes. Marg is a fabulous teacher and we are thrilled that she will be visiting us again in June for 3 days of classes from Friday 26 - Sunday 28. We still have a few places available for this wonderful class.
Talking classes we have added some more fantastic social classes to our schedule - make sure that you have another look at the blog to see what will inspire your sewing soul.
I will leave you with this quote I saw......
Quilting is 3% talent and 97% not being distracted by the internet
Until next time.......happy stitching......lisa
